Vidar Tupeli’s story at Fresh Servant began in April 2016 in dispatch. At first, he worked weekends alongside his studies, but the following year he moved into a full-time role in dispatch. Over the years, the workplace became much more than just a first step into working life – it became a place where skills, responsibility and new opportunities have grown together.
At Fresh Servant, Vidar started as a picker. Since then, he has worked in several roles, including forklift driver, pallet lead, occasional warehouse lead and, for the past three years, shift supervisor. These varied roles have given him a strong understanding of everyday work in production and logistics, as well as the importance of good collaboration in daily operations.
Vidar originally found his way to Fresh Servant through a recommendation from a family member. When his previous evening job moved to Seinäjoki in 2016, a family member who had previously worked at Fresh Servant encouraged him to apply. Vidar submitted an application, followed up with a phone call and soon got the job. That was the beginning of a career path that has led him step by step into new roles.
What Vidar remembers most from his first working days is the people. He enjoyed the work from the very beginning, as the tasks were varied and his colleagues created a friendly, relaxed and encouraging work environment. Over the years, Fresh Servant has become a familiar place where he has been able to learn new things, take responsibility and shape his own direction in working life.
For a while, Vidar spent two years in other roles, including one year in Norway, but his path brought him back to Fresh Servant, this time to an IT Trainee role. Today, he lives with his family in Edsevö, studies and works as an IT Systems Specialist. In this role, he is able to combine his long experience of the company’s everyday operations with his interest in information technology.
A long-standing interest in IT and a desire to learn new things have driven Vidar forward with determination. He has studied the field before and continues to develop his skills alongside work. When the IT Trainee opportunity opened up, he saw it as a great chance to begin a new career path. In his current role, Vidar can use his previous experience in a new way: the combination of technical skills, problem-solving and knowledge of the company’s everyday operations helps him support Fresh Servant’s work more broadly.
Vidar believes that the company knowledge and understanding of Fresh Servant’s operations he has built over the years are a great asset in his current role. He wants to further develop his IT skills and gain a deeper understanding of how Fresh Servant’s IT structure works and develops. Developing his Finnish language skills is also an important goal for him.
During the trainee programme, Vidar wanted to learn as much as possible, gain experience and grow towards a long-term role in the IT team. In his view, internal trainee programmes are an excellent way to open new career paths and support employees’ development within the company. To a colleague who dreams of growing at Fresh Servant, Vidar would give two pieces of advice: it takes will and patience. The will to seize opportunities – and the patience to wait until the right one comes along.
